Hitler Youth

A federal judge has ruled that a New Jersey school may not forbid children from wearing Hitler Youth buttons, in their efforts to protest school uniforms.

Judge Greenway said there seems to be no indication that the buttons would disrupt the learning process and the children will hold their first ammendment right to free speech. An injunction was issue to prevent the banning of the buttons.

The button has rows of similarly dressed men all facing the same direction with the words No School Uniforms.

Pretty well thought out for 5th graders. Congrats to the level headed judge and the students with the courage to fight conformity.

Mermaid Created

A woman in New Zealand without legs is having a mermaids tail created to assist her in swimming. Her name is Nadya Vessey. The company making the tail is the same one who made the special effects in The Lord of the Rings.

She had the first of her legs amputated at 7, after which time she first began swimming. She had her other leg amputated at 16, yet she still swam competitively.

The woman says the tail will allow her to swim with ease through the water, as if she were a mermaid.

Vessey says it will allow her to propel herself through the water as if she was a mermaid. Vessey, who is  a woman in her 50s, found  Weta Workshop’s prosthetic department randomly one night while wandering around the internet. She requested Weta to make the tail useful  and pleasing to the eye.
