You always have rights. If you don’t know them contact an attorney. Most people associate the “rights” to only criminal cases, but in civil circumstances you have rights as well. If you are injured, you probably have rights the insurance companies will fail to mention, and in some cases entitles to lost wages, and/or punitive damages. Make sure you investigate this with an attorney before you sign any papers. Keeping in mind the more the insurance company offers, it is likely your case would be worth much more. If you find yourself injured in Nebraska you should contact a Nebraska Personal Injury Attorney to let you know what options you have available to you.

Cases Dismissed

Criminal cases in California are being dismissed. this is because there is a shortage of judges, and there is an extreme amount of cases to be tried.

Two cases were dismissed today, 7 felonies will be dismissed tomorrow.

The county has 35 judges with more than 1200 are waiting for a trial. If you do the math, you can see there is a real problem in Riverside county.

They have been sending jurors into court as late as 4:30 Pm to start a trial. They had thought they would have to start dismissing cases back in April.  The fact that they are just now starting to dismiss is proof of the judges dedication to getting it done, but there is only so much they can do.

Contract Software

In an industry that regularly collects data for comparisons, and purposes of going back to review and cross reference it later, we as an industry need a revolutionary way to simplify and speed up the process. If you agree with that, then there is a solution. There has been Contract Software developed that not only takes all the information from a contract or other form and databases it, but also allows it to be cross referenced against other databases. Meaning you could run multiple applications of it, creating numerous databases, and then have that data compiled together and see where things intersect. This would be a time saver for sure.

Boalt Hall Law School has decided on a new name.

In January it will be officially renamed to University of California Berkeley School of Law. A branding consultant was given a fee of 25000 to come up with the data that says this will be the most marketable name.

The dean says it was money well spent and says too many people were confused by the old name. “I view this not as a new name but as a way to remedy the confusion about the relationship between Berkeley, Boalt and UC Berkeley.

Execution Delayed

Filed under:Ethics — posted by Tom on @ 4:34 pm

A man was saved from being executed in the state of Nevada 2 hours after he had consumed his last meal.

The halting comes by the way of the state wanting to wait to hear the Supreme Court ruling  regarding the humanity of lethal injection. The complaint put before the Supreme Court by 2 inmates on Death Row in Kentucky claims that lethal injection is inhumane  because it often fails to act with consistency, this , they claim, causes the person being executed undue pain.

The man to be executed, William Castillo, was disappointed at the delay, he was clearly ready to die. Now theres a trooper! Not being executed caused him to ask for sedatives to help him calm down, he was looking forward to it apparently. In fact, he declined his appeal.

Apparently there are 10 states delaying executions while waiting on a Supreme Court ruling.
