73 year old begins sentence

George Ryan former governor of Illinois started serving his 6.5 year prison sentence on yesterday. Gov. Ryan was sentenced for corruption in 2006 with charges including tax fraud, killing a bribery investigation, misuse of tax dollars and state workers and steering contracts.  Gov Ryan reported to a minimum security camp north of Madison Wi. He traveled over 200 miles to get there, and was told to arrive empty handed.  Ryan was attempting to remain free on bond until he could appeal his sentence but  Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens turned down his request to remain free on bail.
