A 15 year old kidnapping victim managed to lead rescuers to her location my secretly sending messages from her cell phone. The girls 19 year old boyfriend is accused with kidnapping her and attempting to take her to Mexico. He was living with the victim for some time when her parents kicked him out after being verbally abusive. The victim left a note for her family saying she had to go with them for their protection, and that she was sorry. She began texting them periodically through out the ordeal to let them know what the vehicle looked like and where she thought she was.

They were finally stopped in New Mexico after police were able to trace the victims location through the messages she was sending out. Evidently at some point her kidnapper sent a text to the victims family as well, stating he was taking her for her own protection, and that he would take care of her. The victim is now safe at home with her family, while her kidnapper remains in custody pending extradition to their home state of Utah.
