In Olympia WA demonstrators who rallied against incoming military shipments from Iraq were quickly given the boot. About 20 people were taken into custody after things got out of hand.  This came one day after demonstrators prevented two trucks from leaving with military supplies that had been unloaded from another shipment from Iraq.

Protesters in other areas of Olympia were arrested that day for obstructing traffic and preventing pedestrians for entering areas of business. Its unclear if they were also protesting the shipments of military equipment that were inbound from Iraq.

60k for flowers?

Filed under:News — posted by Tom on @ 3:54 pm

An Elderly woman in New York was certainly not expecting what was coming when she answered the door for the flower delivery service.  Disguised as delivery men, robbers  pushed their way into her apartment and stole the 60,000 cash that her husband had been saving.  Police released a surveillance video of the suspects in the crime.

The 80 year old victim, Carmen Nieves was talked into opening the door to accept the flowers. The thieves claimed the flowers were a gift from her husband who was out at the time. Nieves said she trusted them because they were young men. The thieves then pushed her into the house and tied her up.

The couple was planning on bringing the money to the bank the next day. It was their life savings.
