A  municipal court judge in New Jersey argues he shouldn’t be punished for informing a landlord his excuse for not showing up in court was “a lot of bullshit.”

Judge Frank Leanza says he has learned his lesson at a hearing  in front of the Advisory Committee on Judicial Conduct.

The Judge said the landlord, accused of refusing to fix his apartment buildings, he had even twice faked heart attacks during court. He accrued  $200,000 in penalties and had ignored multiple summonses and warrants prior to his March 2006 arrest.

The landlord told the judge he had not come in court because he had been gone, an statement the judge knew to be false, he said. That’s when the judge made the BS statement.

He said he was beyond frustrated. he sais hes under stress due to his wife’s breast cancer and the treatment shes going through, he needs thr insurance he gets as a judge to pay for the treatment.

Interpreters for Court on Strike

Sad for you if you got a court case in LA county today and you need an interpreter.

Ticked off about crummy pay increases since becoming employees instead of t contractors way back in  2005, fully 240 court interpreters have went on strike today and were absent from work. The strike caused problems for cases in the county.

A non determined number of interpreters went on strike in other counties as well, for moral support.

One interpreter  of the Spanish language and 10 year experience claims that court interpreters are indenspensible and that their work  be recognized.

The LA court system says the interpreters make more than 73000 dollars a year and in this year received a 4% increase

Musician Shot Dead

A musician in Texas who was made famous twice was shot to death by a scared neighbor just 72 hours after a new  law went into place that extended the rights of  victims to use kill people to protect themselves.

Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, the keyboardist from Edie Brickell and the new Bohemians and more recently of the band Sorta, was shot fatally  in the head because he was banging on his girlfriends neighbors door.

The gunman shot through the door assuming that Albrecht was breaking into his home. Albrecht’s girlfriend said he was suffering a reaction from the mixture of anti nicotine medicine and booze.

The new legislation expands the “stand your ground” law by allowing  citizens  to use deadly force to protect themselves on the job and in cars, trucks. Protecting your homes with deadly force had already been in place.

This law grants immunity from civil repercussions as well

Virginia Tech Slayers College Paper

The gunman in the Virgina Tech slayings had written a college paper  that nearly mirrors the events he caused to unfold almost a year after. Some investigators were unaware of this paper.

The college report paper authored by  Seung Hui Cho had be given to police, but  some important investigators failed to receive a copy, in fact a FBI agent working the case was not aware of its existence. The video Cho made in the midst of the shooting, is almost a verbatim duplicate of that he wrote in his school paper. Thats disturbing…

Cho shot to death 32 people before he killed himself. He had a disturbing pattern of mental health history.

Theres been alot of criticism in the direction that school officials could have prevented the occurance. We hope that this kind of thing will be prevented in the future so that the lives taken there were not in vain.

Its scary to me, as a parent. I don’t want my child to be schooled publicly, yet denying him that may well stunt his social growth. Its something thats tearing at me, and I don’t know the answer. My heart goes out to any parent who has taken this kind of tremendous loss.

Arkansas Kids Law

Well again Arkansas leaves me laughing. its no wonder the Yankees make their jokes.

This year the legislators made a nifty law in Arkansas. It allows state residents, irregardless of age, to get married, as long as their parents say its okay.

So next time you ask a 5 year old what he got for his birthday, he might say “a wife.” Yes, it would be legal…

The Governor MAY call a special legislative session to correct this. Of course , he may not, hes from Arkansas too.

The law was meant to allow pregnant teens to marry with parental consent. However the wording was not done properly, and well, yeah all kids can marry now.

It will be interesting to see if the governor forces a rewrite in the interest of public sanity.
