The Hunt for Whitey

Whitey Bulger has been on the run ever since I can remember.

He is reputed to be the Irish mob boss of Boston, but after being indicted took to hiding out. He was indicted on multiple counts, including his role in 18 murders.

Whitey was no dummy, he put alot of cash in safe deposit boxes in the USA and internationally. the box in Florida was captured by agents, along with the ones in Ireland, England, Italy, and Canada.

Whitey is listed just under Osama Bin Laden on the FBI’s most wanted list.

The FBI thinks they have a picture of him that was taken in Italy and is shifting their hunt for him over to Europe now. They have recently met with Scotland Yard officials.

A man from Minden, Nevada who was arrested for a DUI,  was arrested again, this time while out on bail for the DUI, and drinking a 12 pack on the courts lawn. Not too bright.

When he went in front of the judg, he asked the judge to release him to his own recognizance, and promised not to drink anymore. The judge was shocked he had been released to his own recognizance previously and set the bail at 100,000.

His original arrest was shortly after his 21st birthday, when he and 2  passengers were injured when he drove down a winding mountain road at 70 miles per hour, with a blood alchol level of .104%. Nevada’s legal limit is .08%.

Cameras

Ah security cameras! they catch the bad guys committing crimes. So when a shop supervisor was beaten and the store was robbed it was caught on camera. Good stuff, and police set about investigating the crime.

Cameras are not discriminatory, they catch everything not just the things you want it too. So when the camera was looking around it saw the store supervisor coem in the store on his day off, with the man that robbed the store. It seems the supervisor set the robbery up… and the assailant was his friend.

Heroin hidden with infant

A 40 year old man his heroin in the car seat which held his 7 day old daughter. Police found the drugs anyways, because he has been under investigation for drug dealing for some time.

The police recovered the heroin and also found marijuana. He was charged with crimes for these items. He was also charged with endangering the safety of his child.

Ok so far this all makes sense.

His bail is set at 3,000 dollars… That makes no sense, here you have a drug dealer that is enough off a problem that he is followed around by a drug task force, and you make the bail 3000?? I mean 5 to 1 hes bailed out already. Thats why we “lose the war on drugs”.

New Laws in Florida

Filed under:Criminal Law — posted by Tom on @ 3:51 pm

Due to new laws Florida is now the toughest state in America against people who sex crimes against kids. Things that are legel elsewhere will constitute felonies in Florida, and penalties have been tripled. Good job Florida.

For example, it is now a crime to take a trip to meet a child for sex, even if the meeting never occurs. Pedophiles will now have to register their email addresses, and that data will be given to sites liek MySpace.

For so long child pornography has been looked at as a victimless crime, but this is NOT the case, those pictures are people, children, and they are going through things they shouldn’t be, and being taken advantage of and abused for another’s entertainment.

Under new laws the maximum penalty for child pornography is now 15 years, the old limit was 5.

Virginia Tech Slayers College Paper

Filed under:Controversial, Criminal Law, News — posted by Tom on August 29, 2007 @ 9:56 pm

The gunman in the Virgina Tech slayings had written a college paper  that nearly mirrors the events he caused to unfold almost a year after. Some investigators were unaware of this paper.

The college report paper authored by  Seung Hui Cho had be given to police, but  some important investigators failed to receive a copy, in fact a FBI agent working the case was not aware of its existence. The video Cho made in the midst of the shooting, is almost a verbatim duplicate of that he wrote in his school paper. Thats disturbing…

Cho shot to death 32 people before he killed himself. He had a disturbing pattern of mental health history.

Theres been alot of criticism in the direction that school officials could have prevented the occurance. We hope that this kind of thing will be prevented in the future so that the lives taken there were not in vain.

Its scary to me, as a parent. I don’t want my child to be schooled publicly, yet denying him that may well stunt his social growth. Its something thats tearing at me, and I don’t know the answer. My heart goes out to any parent who has taken this kind of tremendous loss.

Brian Jones

Everyone is talking about Brian Jones. He’s a Public Defender in Ohio.

Judge Plough appointed Mr. Jones to be an attorney for Jordan Scott. The trial was resceduled from 11am to 1 30 pm, to allow the defense preparation time.
Just prior to the trial commencement Atty Jones informed the court he couldnt go on because he was not ready yet.  Apparently its policy not to take cases to trail on such a short notice. The judge held the public defender in contempt, and called for a sheriff to remove him from the courtroom.

The attorney spent 5 hours in jail before he was able to make bail.
This is the second time this judge has done this, and the other time it was the same situation. The judge will assign a public defender to a case that goes to trial 48 hours before the trial, giving the defense no time to prepare their arguments. Is this guy a Nazi? Wow.

Organizations that believe in fair trials are coming to Jones’ defense. Judge Plough seems unmoved. It seems this Judge has always been the center of controversy, including his election win to the office.
